Our History

Youth Enquiry Service (YES) is a charity that has supported young people in High Wycombe and the surrounding areas since 1982. We moved into our current home on Frogmoor, a building which was at that time provided by Wycombe District Council, in 1997. Since then, we have run many innovative and impactful services for the local community including:

• One of the first online counselling services in the country – our ‘Write On’ scheme. This service provided anonymous counselling over email, and by letter, through a YES Counsellor using the pseudonym ‘Mel’.

• Supported lodgings scheme, which provided housing and emotional support for 16 and 17 year olds

• Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme, which helped homeless people over 18 gain access to privately rented accommodation

• Sexual Health Clinic, with local nurses on site to provide pregnancy, chlamydia, and HIV testing, emergency contraception and condoms (we still provide sexual health services, but no longer have the full clinic)
